In China, the new beachwear ‘must-have’ item is the facekini. Not only will you be mistaken for Spider-Man or a Mexican wrestler in beach-goers peripheral vision, but you’ll protect your face from the sun’s rays while you’re at it.
In all seriousness, it is the best way for wearers to protect themselves from the rays of the sun, as well as the chance of a jellyfish sting (in the face).
Seeing as though the facekini removes the possibility of a tan, that’s a good thing. In China, the preference for fair-skinned women is cultural, going back as early as 475 BC.
