Central Saint Martins Backs #encoreCSM Student Protest

The head of Central Saint Martins' BA Fashion course has voiced support for a protest staged by students who were not chosen to exhibit at the university's end-of-year catwalk show.

Speaking to Deezen, course director Willie Walters called last week's #encoreCSM a "fantastic initiative" and said it "allowed those students not selected for the press show to present their designs in a setting which related directly to the college and their course."

"I was thrilled that these students were so proactive and professional in their approach," she added.

The students excluded from the catwalk took to Granary Square on the Central Saint Martins' King's Cross Campus to stage a guerilla presentation showcasing their collections.

Models and friends donned their designs and stood in a line around the square's fountain, in front of visitors leaving and arriving at the official press show.

"Our aim is for equal representation in support of current and future students on the BA Fashion pathway," read flyers handed out by students taking part in the protest.

Only 40 designers were included in the press show, around one third of the course's students, selected by a panel of judges and examiners.

"They may well be disappointed not to be chosen," Walters said of the protesters. "But we find that this makes very little difference to their employability.

She followed on to explain that the work of 40 students usually takes over one hour on the catwalk, and that including more students would make the duration of the show too long for the audience.

The number of students in Central Saint Martin's fashion department has grown significantly as of late, with approximately 110 students now being accepted to the university's BA courses each year.

Walters added that the press show is for press only, and that most potential employers will be able to see the work of all the students at a separate exhibition held at the end of June.

Jennifer Aniston's Beauty Secrets: Her Top Tips For Glowing Skin

Jennifer Aniston is the woman who launched a thousand haircuts. But today her golden skin draws as many admiring comments as her trend-setting tresses.

In an exclusive interview with HuffPost UK Style, the 46-year-old actress revealed she actually "had to have a sun intervention a few years ago," which got us wondering how she still looked so glowing...

Aniston revealed it's taken years of practice to perfect her look since first experimenting with makeup as a teenager:

"My girlfriends and I used to all share beauty products and I fell in love," she said.

We sat down to chat to the star as she spilled her skincare secrets, including early style disasters (see, she's more like us than we thought).

jennifer aniston

What's the secret behind your flawless skin?

Honestly, hydration and drinking water. I've had four bottles already today! It’s a big important thing. A lot of people forget about it, but you have to remember.

Exercise is absolutely important too and I love an infrared sauna a couple of times a week as they're extremely good for your skin - for cell regeneration, detoxifying and relaxing. You can even buy portable ones online!

I also firmly believe in the power of beauty sleep – you can be as healthy as you like, but if you don’t get proper sleep your body will pay for it.

I'm definitely guilty of not drinking enough water. Do you have any tips for getting your daily quota?

I had to train myself to! I have water everywhere - I always carry it with me and keep a bottle by my bed.

Talk me through your daily skincare routine

I wash my face with a gentle cleanser then follow with the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moistusier, it keeps my skin so soft all day so I don't have to keep reapplying.

I'll also use the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion after a morning shower - a top tip is to keep the dampness on your skin from the shower before applying as you'll get even more hydration.

Festival Makeup Tips And The Best Beauty Products To Pack

You're best known for your natural makeup look, what do you wear on a day-to-day basis?

Most of the time I don’t wear makeup. When you're working and people are caking it on your face it's nice to feel clean and fresh.

When I go out I'll just use a tinted moisturiser, a little concealer and mascara - then I'm good to go.

What beauty products could you not live without?

I always carry sunscreen with me - in my car, in my bag, in little plastic travel bottles. It's a major a go-to for me. The Aveeno moisturiser has SPF 30 and doesn't leave you all pasty and white, so it looks great under makeup.

Another thing I can't live without is a good lip moisturiser.

An SPF is definitely a must-have! How do you get your gorgeous golden glow?

A lifetime commitment to tanning! That, and living in LA. I actually had to have a sun intervention a few years ago – as much as we love it as kids and teenagers, it doesn’t pay off in the long run.

I've been on the wagon now with sun tanning. I do treat myself to a spray tan every once in a while but I'm learning to be ok with not being tanned.

Who are your beauty icons?

Lauren Hutton was spectacular, I've loved her look for as long as I can remember. Brigitte Bardot was stunning too, I always liked the natural California surfer girl look.

Have you ever had any beauty disasters?

My teenage years were probably some of the worst looks I've sported. I was very goth - pale pale skin, dark dark lips. I coloured my own hair some horrible shade like 'boysenberry' or something. It was not a good look.

Then I moved to California when I was 20 and saw all these granola crunching California kids – it was all about the natural look there.

Zayn Malik just can't seem to commit to a hair colour... and now we can't stop reminiscing about his different styles over the years.

Just days after debuting his luminous green new buzzcut, the former One Direction singer has switched up his look once again, this time going for a bright shade of white.

Malik shared a snap of his new 'do with his 1.6 million Instagram followers, captioning the photo: "White hair now."

Now he’s no longer in the boy band, 22-year-old Malik is obviously enjoying experimenting with his looks and we have to say, we're pretty impressed with his adventurous choices.

Perhaps his quick switch to platinum is due to the mixed reaction from fans after he posted his green hair on the social media site.

Jo Malone On What Building A Fragrance Empire (And Then Leaving It) Taught Her About Happiness

$

[Picture: Jo Malone]

When people think of Jo Malone they think of cream boxes tied with a black and silver grosgrain bow. They think of Christmas presents and anniversary gifts; of their favourite fragrance, whether that's Lime, Basil and Madarin or Nutmeg and Ginger; of luxury, indulgence and comfort.

Far fewer people think of the woman behind the brand, the passionate perfumier who now has very little (read: nothing at all) to do with Jo Malone London. In 1999, five years after she opened her first store, Jo sold the company to Estée Lauder for "undisclosed millions" and, in 2006, she stepped down as creative director and chairwoman after she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. (She has since had the all-clear.)

For five years Jo was contractually obliged to stay away from the industry. And in 2011 she announced her homecoming to fragrance with her latest venture, Jo Loves, a fragrance company which continually reinvents the cosmetics wheel.

"Fragrance is where I belong," she tells HuffPost UK Lifestyle. "I love to build, I love to create - I’m a shopkeeper, I’m a creator, I’m all these things. It gives me the ability to be able to do that."

"I love fragrance and fragrance loves me," she adds, poetically. "It’s a love affair that I will never walk away from again, no matter what. Because it makes me unbelievably miserable not creating it."

For Jo the fusion of sentiment, memory and fragrance is nothing new. She has synaesthesia - a rare, yet harmless neurological condition that affects sensory perception, often fusing two or more of the senses to work in unison.

"I see in smell, I hear in smell, I feel in smell," she says. "I didn’t learn to do it, I don’t think about it - it just happens. My red scarf, I can smell it. The green grass, I can smell it."

It's difficult for those without the condition to get their head around, so when pushed further she turns to music to offer an analogy: "I hear this tune in my head, so I take all of the notes and memorise them. Then I play that tune back in my head and I can smell it again... and then I go away and recreate it."

Now, Jo talks fondly and openly about her unusual "gift", as she describes it, but she hasn't always been so at ease with her aptitude for scent.

"I think that all those years ago I was definitely frightened of seeing something and smelling it," she says. "It was very unusual and I used to be scared of it, but I’m not scared anymore."

Each of her creations represent something dear to her. She created Amber and Lavender, one of the spicier of the Jo Malone London fragrances, to symbolise her husband, Gary, with whom she set up Jo Malone London and, later, Jo Loves.

"It represents the man I love," she says. "It was about creating his character: warmth, edginess, comfort."

Pomelo, her first fragrance for Jo Loves, captured a serene moment on holiday ("the fresh white towels rolled up on the sunbeds, the infusion of cooking coming out from the restaurant") and represents a "second chance" with fragrance.

She says coming up with her comeback fragrance "didn’t happen naturally".

"Could I create a fragrance? Yes, of course I could. Could I create something that could stand the test of time? No. They were just notes or chords and nothing felt like me anymore," she says.

"It took me a couple of years and Pomelo, she just whispered in my ear. She’s like my best friend. I’ve got it on now, I wash my floors with it, I wash my dog with it. It’s one of those fragrances that I feel gave me a second chance."

She speaks about all of her fragrances with such affection: "I do look at them as personalities, I have a connection with them. When you’ve created something you feel that connection - because they are so emotional they feed me with emotion. "

One of her greatest pleasures is creating something brand new, being first to smell it and, above all, first to wear it.

After all, she says: "I’m brilliant at this, I know I am. I’m not big headed, but I can create fragrance like no one else in the world."

jo malone

Her latest innovation is the Candle Shot, which allows customers to create a bespoke candle by combining two fragrances of their choice.

The Candle Shot is three years in the making and currently patent-pending. "It is probably been the most complex thing I’ve ever done," she says.

First customers choose a base fragrance, then they choose a different scented shot, step three put your candle shot in the base, lighting the underside of the shot to allow the base and shot to fuse together.

Sounds simple enough, but Jo says the difficulty came when choosing the wick and candle wax. "The secret behind it is the wick and the candle wax, we were doing for first time. Every time you burnt a wax or put two together it wouldn’t throw the smell - every hurdle that to do with candles was there."

The experience of choosing the fragrance is quite unique, almost luxurious. Sat in the Candle Studio, customers paint each of the four base fragrances on separate blank canvases, sampling each to choose their favourite. Then the paint the remaining scents to choose a shot fragrance.

But it's not as simple as putting two fragrances together, the way the Candle Shot burns means that the scent ebbs and flows depending on which point of the candle is burning - at the beginning you get more of the shot fragrance, by the end of the candle, you'll get more of the base fragrance.

"Unlike when you’re looking for a fragrance on your skin, with a candle you’re looking for that interplay with fragrances - for that pull and that play with fragrance. Otherwise it becomes too predictable and just smells like a home candle and what you want is to smell the mint, petitgrain, you want to smell the diversity."

The Jo Loves store is located on Elizabeth Street, London, where Jo had her first job as a florist aged 16.

"Still to this day, I remember the subtle scent of tuberose and lilies, freesia and roses, alongside crushed green stems on the floor and the smell of twine and brown paper," she writes on the Jo Loves site. "Thirty years later, life has unexpectedly taken me full circle."

Jo left school at 15 after her mum suffered a stroke and she needed to stay at home, in Bexleyheath, Kent, to support her. Later, while working in Elizabeth Street, her mum fell ill again, and Jo quit the florists to return home and help run her mother's cosmetics business. It was there that she learned to become a faciailist, brewing her own natural concoctions at her kitchen table using three plastic pots that she still cherishes to this day.

It was only when one of Jo’s high profile clients threw a party and requested Jo create enough of her signature Nutmeg and Ginger oil to gift each of the guests, that the business took off. Or, as she says in her interview with Kirsty Young on Desert Island Discs, where her "feet left the ground".

To deal with the growing demand, her husband Gary suggested he quit his job and they set up shop together. They opened the first Jo Malone first store at 154 Walton Street in London in 1994.

After she sold the company to Estée Lauder, Jo remained at the helm as creative director and chairwoman.

"I’ve never allowed anyone to create my fragrance when I was at Jo Malone," she tells me, the formulas for fragrance were very much conceived in her head.

But when Jo was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer aged just 37, everything changed.

"I was told I should get my life in order because they didn't know how long [I had to live]," she told Young on Desert Island Discs.

When Jo called Evelyn Lauder, her then-boss at Estée Lauder, to break the news, she sent Jo on the next flight to New York for treatment.

Thankfully Jo recovered, but she decided to step down from Jo Malone London and, as per the terms of her contract, this meant taking five years away from the industry.

"During five years when I wasn’t creating fragrance, I lost who I was. I lost my personality, I didn’t know who I was really or what my purpose was."

But this period of exile taught Jo a lot about herself and character, offering plenty of life lessons to help her shape the future.

"I had three things left," she says.

"I have passion for an industry and a product that I don’t think many people have.

"I have resilience, I know how to fight, when I believe in something I’m never gonna let go - regardless of whether someone slams the door in my face, I’ll find the back door, if you build a brick wall, I’ll burrow under it. I’ll always find a way if I believe in something.

"And I am unbelievably creative and it is the creativity within me that will change the world again."

It is through Jo Loves that she is able to flex her creative muscles to the fullest. When opening the store Jo wanted to create a fragrance brasserie, where customers can have tapas-style experiences and watch the world go by, now "consumers become the artist and creator" with the new Candle Shot Studio.

Empowering people through creativity echoes Jo's work with The Great Campaign, an international promotional campaign showcasing British talent, for which she is an ambassador for creativity.

"We travel round the world with fashion designers, music, technical designers - everything from every walk of life. We set up and show the world how great Great Britain is. I’m not there to promote Jo Loves. I’m there to promote creativity, being an enterpreneur and my country."

In short, no two days are the same for Jo. When asked to describe a typical day, she laughs: "I wake up and I go to sleep, that's about all that's 'typical' in my day."

Then again, she doesn't want a typical day.

"My life is like a Picasso painting, there is always something obscure or abstract and I welcome that."

Although sometimes she says she finds it difficult to balance work and family life.

"Some days are very hard when you’re trying to balance being a mum, because ultimately that’s my most important job," she says. "Often I’ll be doing a big speech and I’ll have a thousand people around me and I’ll be thinking: 'What are we going to have for dinner? Did I remember to get the pork chops out?'"

Family life is crucial to her success and she describes her husband Gary as her épée. The couple have worked side-by-side to build the two fragrance empires, Jo handles the creative elements while Gary looks after the financial side of things and, more recently, strategy.

They're incredibly close: "We've been married over 30 years and he is still my best friend, my soul mate, the person I trust."

As far as the future goes, Jo is sure about what she wants from her life and career.

"It’s not just about success, because I’ve known failure as well as success, but it’s about contentment and thinking wow, I belong here. And while I realise that I can never not create fragrance again, because it makes me very unhappy, I want the next part of my life to be very fulfilled - I want purpose to love what I do and love where I am."

The Pleasure and Pain of Shoes Examined at V&A

2015-06-10-1433962520-7903965-ShoesPigalle.jpg

Shoes are a popular subject and it could have been so easy for the V&A to pull together a couple of hundred pairs of shoes, place them prettily and charge an admission fee for still, visitors would have come. So credit to the V&A curation team for deciding to interrogate this subject for the result is a revealing and challenging exhibition on a much-loved item.

Sexuality and shoes have always been deeply intertwined and a part of this exhibition is stylised with sultry red velvet textures and deep maroon colours. It screams seduction. But the pieces on show demonstrate how sex and fetishism have influenced footwear.

The high heels and knee high leather boots are on show, as is the evocative trademark red sole of the Louboutin. But this link with sex is nothing new for also on display is a pair of shoes worn by a Japanese orian, a prostitute, where the platforms are so high as to make any kind of practical movement impossible.

2015-06-10-1433962733-693645-ShoesSeduction.jpg

This restriction of female movement retains its power as a source of fantasy, which we see today in all high heels and is demonstrated at its extreme in the David Lynch/Christian Louboutin collaboration that is on show, where the shoes have impossibly angled heels, forcing the woman to crawl rather than walk.

Of course, for many this is in dangerous territory. Shoes which restrict female movement and encourage submission is a politically charged subject. But what was revealing about this exhibition was the history of gender roles and behaviour that has been weaved into shoes - and how this can often surprise.

It is the female shoe that we expect to be high-heeled and embellished. This design is associated with a concept of femininity and, again, the restriction of movement is desirable. In comparison, masculinity is associated with rugged boots and big, heavy shoes.

2015-06-10-1433962932-1132312-ShoesInstallation.jpg

So where does that leave the cowboy boot? For cowboys are considered to be some kind of masculine archetype but yet the pair of cowboy boots on show are high heeled and decorative, covered in studs and beads. It's interesting, seeing assumptions challenged and this exhibition does just that.

Some of the pairs of shoes are extraordinary historical artefacts - and included with a purpose. One pair of sandals is 2000 years old, from late Pharaonic or early Roman Egypt, and the shoes are delicately embellished with nearly pure gold. Intriguingly their sole is designed with a sharp point at the toes, much like contemporary designs. It's interesting how long this idealized and desired foot shape has been around.

The V&A has vast archives and wonderful access to so many collections to bring together a great range of shoes. And in addition to many historical artefacts there are, of course, some headline grabbers.

2015-06-10-1433963180-3152887-ShoesTheRedShoes.jpg

David Beckham has lent a pair of boots from his Manchester United playing days and there's the delicate glass slipper designed for Disney's recent Cinderella film - both demonstrations of shoes as fantasy items that can transform behaviour and people. The infamous Vivienne Westwood platforms that Naomi Campbell fell over in are on display (and looking as desirable as ever), as are a pair from Imelda Marcos' vast collection.

But a real highlight is the deadly pair of red ballet shoes from the 1948 film, The Red Shoes. A stunning and iconic treasure from cinema history and in a deeply evocative blood red as opposed to the more usual candy pink.

Much like the stunning Alexander McQueen exhibition that is also on in the V&A, Shoes: Pleasure and Pain examines the extremes in fashion. And much like Savage Beauty, this exhibition is also fascinating - full of craft, intellectual discourse and a flash of celebrity.

How to Invent a Space - My Conversation at SohoCreate

As a women in the creative industry, I'm always keen to look outside the box and speak to peers who speak my language. On Saturday, I was thrilled to be asked to speak at Soho Create, a series of talks that celebrated the creativity of Soho in London and the people who frequent the area. The week held discussions, speeches, chats, drinks and performances and I was thrilled to be asked to speak with Sonja Klaus, set designer of blockbusters such as Prometheus and Gladiator, on the topic of "Inventing Spaces", chaired by Elle Decoration Editor-in-Chief Talib Choudry.

2015-06-11-1434020381-7375094-20150611_1159.png

While both falling under the umbrella of 'designer' Sonja and I's jobs could not be more different - but somehow have inherent similarities that come with the title. Our creative process may be in different industries, but follow the same pattern. For example, the process of installing a job starts with a client. You come up with an idea or concept and create it in your head. You would then choose the objects and decide how they - and the space itself - is going to work. Then, you create it and watch it unfold in front of your eyes.

One really interesting point that was raised was today's reliance of technology in the design community. I'm all for networks like Instagram and Pinterest and I can see the value and convenience, but there's something to be said for seeing things with our own eyes. As a child I was literally dragged by my mother to museums and galleries. Now I know what to look for and can see inspiration everywhere - it's all about training your eye. This was another point where Sonja and I saw eye-to-eye. Creating a space is about so much more than a look, it's about the smell, sounds and the taste and you need to be in the physical world to experience these.

You can see the conversation on Twitter under the hashtag #InventingSpaces and I'm really grateful for everyone who joined myself and Sonja!

A stunning vintage wedding dress has captured the hearts of the nation after it was left at a charity shop with a heartwarming note attached.

Staff at St Gemma's Hospice charity shop have since tracked down the "true gent" who donated his late wife's dress, thanks to the help of social media.

The dress was left at the charity shop in Garforth with a touching note, which read: "I wish any lady who takes this dress to have a life with her loved one 56 years like I did. Happy years.

"I was a lucky man to marry a lady like mine."

The 1950s bridal gown has a lace bodice with long sleeves and a tiered skirt. It is currently being auctioned on eBay and so far, bids have reached £6,400.

Staff at St Gemma's Hospice posted an appeal on their Facebook page to track down the kind gentleman behind the stunning dress. And it looks like their efforts paid off.

On 11 June they posted on social media saying: "We have news! We found the kind gentleman who donated the beautiful vintage wedding dress.

They added that the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, is "overwhelmed" with the international attention his late wife's dress has generated and is "over the moon" that somebody else will be able to buy the dress on eBay.

"He is so happy and proud that the Hospice will benefit from funds raised by the auction of the dress," the charity shop spokesperson added.

"We have thanked him so much for his kindness and he would like to thank everyone for their support."

Burberry Prorsum Winter Collection 2015: A Nostalgic View of the 60s Made for Tomorrow

Burberry is one of the most iconic British Fashion Houses maintained by quality, perfect tailoring and innovation as the starting point in each collection. It was founded over 150 years ago in 1856 when Mr Thomas Burberry opened the first store in Basingstoke, Hampshire, at the young age of 21. Later on, the distinctive Equestrian Knight logo was created adding the word Prorsum which means in Latin forward. A constant motto for such avant-garde company.

In 1914, Burberry was commissioned to adapt its coat to the rough elements of warfare and the quintessential trench coat was born. It is still one of the garments most closely associated with Burberry. The beginning of this century witnessed a successful expansion on a global scale and online sales led by by its former CEO's Rose Marie Bravo and Angela Ahrendts, and the current CEO and Chief Creative Officer, Christopher Bailey. A visionary who has managed to position the Fashion House as one of the most influential in the world today.

Bailey's catwalks are much more than a mere presentation of next year's collection; they have become a unique experience with live music by Clare Maguire on this occasion and one of the hottest ticket during the London Fashion Week. Patchwork, Pattern & Prints, the title of the latest Winter collection, shown us with the link of perfect tailoring and the unexpected turn to the 60s in colours and bohemian flair. A sparkle of nostalgia in a contemporary setting. A break away from happy moments with lessons learnt. Perhaps an attempt to recover the optimism of a Golden Decade after the worse crisis in almost 100 years.

2015-06-10-1433948399-2086715-BurberryProrsumAW15.jpg

As Bailey says:
We called the show 'Patchwork, Pattern & Prints' which really sums up what's at the heart of the collection; a relaxed yet intricate collection of dramatic silhouettes, handcrafted embroidery, and detailed embellishment. We loved this theme of a patchwork of ideas, textiles, silhouettes and our favourite Burberry pieces, evolved to reflect the bohemian relaxed spirit of the show.

Flowers immersed in warm colours recreates the last days of a plentiful summer. Memories fading away at the first signs of snow. A recap. A pause. Is happiness something we talk about in past tense? Oversized mono-coloured coats and ponchos ready for the freeze. Playful suede boots to continue the fun. Strings dangling from the ankle caressing the floor. Carelessness at its most. The Game is ON. Vintage that did not feel like vintage. Flawlessly succession of flowers and colour dots, as if the show were a bucolic poem. And then popping in and out the iconic trench coat in all different combinations mentioned above: suede, flower patterns and colour block.

Uplifting and overwhelming. It ended with the lead singer Maguire supported by London Contemporary Voices who surrounded the space from the top, The Langley Sisters and Clare Maguire's band singing My Sweet Lord under a multicolour paper snow. An extraordinary experience and an understanding why it is one on the hottest tickets during the London Fashion Week.

Tom Ford Shares A Surprising (And Affordable) Grooming Secret

Religious workouts, five baths a day and long-haul flights in three-piece suits... Tom Ford's personal maintenance regime is nothing short of legendary.

But in a new interview with ES Magazine, the designer revealed his famously fastidious grooming routine is no more - thanks to his new role as a parent with his partner of 29 years, Richard Buckley, whom he recently married.

Ford's son, two-year-old Jack, now takes up most of his time at home, and he even admitted to wearing dirty suits: "I used to make more of an effort in the mornings but I don’t any more," he said.

He also shared a very surprisingly affordable secret for tackling a grey beard...

tom ford

"When I got up this morning I was going to trim my beard because I knew I was having this interview and I needed to look good," he said. "It’s going quite grey, which I sometimes camouflage with Just For Men beard dye — do not put that in the article! — and I just didn’t even have the energy."

Just For Men!? Who'd have thought one of the world's most successful men in fashion would love a product that costs under a tenner (we predict sales will start soaring).

Ford also let slip that his strict gym regime is no more and he hasn't worked out in the last two and a half years.

So how does he stay an "exact size 48 perfect regular" to try on all his samples?

"I really watch what I eat," Ford said. Although he did admit to supplementing his healthy diet of fish and vegetables with Percy Pigs and doughnuts: "I mean, if I even see them, I have to eat the pack!"

Kim Kardashian's makeup artist has created some of the most sought after beauty looks in the world (as well as introducing us all to contouring *praying hands emoji*).

Now, makeup maestro Mario Dedivanovic and the reality star herself are teaming up to host a four-hour master class, teaching attendees how to recreate their signature style.

Kim excitedly shared the news on her Twitter yesterday: "I'm shooting a make up tutorial today that will post on my new website when it launches this summer! Going to have tons of tutorials!", she said.

"Hair and make up tutorials! My sisters are launching their new websites too! Everyone's will be so different and so interactive! I can't wait!"

She added: “When I was fourteen my dad took me to a make up class with a professional make up artist and I fell in love with glam ever since!”

Kim also posted the link to the masterclass which will set fans back up to $799 (around £516) per ticket, although this does include a Certificate of Completion, gift bag of products worth over $1000 and a selfie with Kim and Mario (naturally).

Fans are also given the option of buying $299 tickets and $499 tickets - but they won't get the pleasure of a selfie with Kim.

Kate Middleton News: How The Duchess Of Cambridge Wears High Heels All Day

Kate Middleton is one of Britain's biggest fashion icons and one who is rarely caught without her heels (even when she's eight-months pregnant).

But how does the Duchess of Cambridge stay comfortable all day long?

Finally, her secret shoe weapon has been revealed. She cushions her heels with specialised insoles from Alice Bow, a brand created by London-based Australian entrepreneur Rachel Bowditch.

kate middleton

"Kate recently bought several pairs of Alice Bow insoles at the Selfridges department store in London," a source told U.S. Weekly. "She picked up versions of the insole for both flat shoes and heels in an assortment of colors. The Duchess is a fan of the brand."

According to the brand's website, Alice Bow luxury insoles are handcrafted in London from Italian leather and high quality orthopaedic padding that cushions the ball of your foot. The insoles are sticky on the back so they stay put in your shoe and they can even be worn with open-toed heels.

They come designed for either flats or heels and are available in a wide array of gorgeous colours, so Kate can match them to her heels du jour.

Since Middleton's high heel secret was revealed, it seems business has been booming for the small business (the "Kate Middleton Effect" must still be in full force then).

Alice Bow released a statement on their website notifying customers that demand for the insoles has sky-rocked.

"We've experiencing a delightfully unexpected volume of orders at the moment," the statement reads. "We make all our insoles by hand and will work as fast as we can to fulfill all orders."

Alice Bow insoles are available from alicebow.com, priced at £13.90 per pair.

Rosacea: What Is Rosacea, How To Treat It And The Best Skin Products To Use At Home

Rosacea is a common but often poorly understood skin condition, which can really affect your confidence.

Symptoms often begin with a mild flushing in the cheeks, but can lead to persistent, long-term facial redness and an uncomfortable, itchy rash.

If you're suffering from rosacea, you're not alone. The NHS estimates that up to one in 10 people may have it and, luckily, there are plenty of treatment options available.

rosacea

Rosacea sufferers can also develop papules (round red bumps) and pustules (pus-filled swellings) which look similar to acne.

In a survey of skin specialists by private healthcare search engine WhatClinic.com, one in 10 said they had seen rosacea cases that had previously been misdiagnosed as the condition.

The research also showed that rosacea treatments have seen a huge growth in demand recently, with enquires in the past year up 92 per cent from the year before.

The rise was attributed to an increase in pollution, stress and poor diet, and women in their thirties were found to be most likely to develop the condition.

Speaking to HuffPost UK Style, Dr Alexis Granite, a dermatologist at London's Cadogan Clinic, revealed the top treatment options.

She explained: "Treatment typically includes topical medications that help to reduce inflammation and redness of the skin. Oral antibiotics can be helpful as well, especially in the papulopustular form of rosacea.

"Lifestyle changes including limiting potential triggers such as sun and wind exposure, spicy foods, hot drinks, and alcohol are an important mainstay of treatment for rosacea patients.

"There is some newer evidence that probiotic supplementation may be beneficial in managing rosacea as well."

The Best Beauty Products For Rosacea

Recommended to HuffPost UK Style by dermatologists, facialists and rosacea sufferers.

Cleanse & Refresh

rosacea

Rosacea sufferers should stick to an extremely gentle cleanser. Dermalogica UltraCalming Cleanser (£27.20) helps to combat sensitivity and is completely free from artificial fragrance or colour.

Soothe and hydrate irritated skin with a cooling spray like The Organic Pharmacy Rose Facial Spritz Toner (£26.95).

Treat & Nourish

rosacea

Give skin a bi-weekly treat with Aurelia Cell Revitalise Rose Mask (£65). This balancing treatment is supercharged with probiotics and works wonderfully to reduce inflammation.

Hailed as a hero product for rosacea, Ole Henriksen Nurture Me Creme (£41) is a must-try for treating redness. The delicate formula soothes, moisturises and increases skin's defences against pollution, thanks to its powerful antioxidant ingredients.

Prime & Conceal

rosacea

Before applying makeup, try a specialised primer like Smashbox Colour Correcting Primer in Adjust (£25). The green pigment counteracts redness in the skin, as it's the opposing shade on the colour spectrum.

Sunlight can aggravate rosacea so ensure your foundation contains a good SPF. Vichy Dermablend Corrective Stick (£15) provides impeccable coverage, SPF 30 and is formulated for even the most sensitive of skin.

We have chosen not to include a photo of the condition, as rosacea can look very different from case to case. If you are worried you may be affected, see the British Association of Dermatologists' fact sheet for more information.

Why Tie Dye Hair Is The Next Big Thing This Summer

It seems there's a fresh hair trend cropping up every week, but this summer's hottest new beauty look is one we can definitely get behind...

Introducing, tie-dye hair.

Differing from traditional rainbow hair, the colours are applied to blend into themselves, creating a mega ombre effect - and it's awesome!

The style has been taking the internet by storm as of late, but London's coolest salon Bleach are the official originators, perfecting the method since their Dalston launch in 2010.

A photo posted by BLEACH (@bleachlondon) on

Sapphire Lewis, salon manager at Bleach London told HuffPostUK Style how to recreate the look yourself in five simple steps:

1. If you're doing it at home it's easier to get a friend to help, especially with the back of the hair. Prepare all the colours first and have an old towel on hand to wipe your hands in between using colours.

2. Start at the back, take thin sections of hair and apply your first colour right to the scalp at the top. Bring it down as far as you want the colour to go.

3. Apply your second colour and smoosh it into the first colour section to make sure it blends.

4. Do the same for the next colour. Repeat the process all over the head, alternating colours and putting different combinations together.

5. For a true tie-dye effect leave some of the blonde hair in between colours so that when it’s all rinsed and dry it looks like the white patches and patterns you get on a tie-dye t-shirt.

You can go as bold or as subtle as you want. For a stand-out rainbow style, temporary dyes like Bleach Super Cool Colours (pictured above) will do the job. If you want an instant wash-out colour, create dreamy pastel hues with their Hair Crayons instead (as shown in the first pic).

Bleach London hair products are available from bleachlondon.co.uk and boots.com

Ricki Hall Dubbed Real-Life Zoolander After Saying He Takes 'Style Tips' From Homeless People

Ricki Hall, a UK model known for his bushy beard and over 200 tattoos, has been dubbed "the real life Zoolander" after revealing he takes style tips from homeless people.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the 28-year-old male model said his morning runs around Brockley Park in South London gave him time to think about his day and "take style tips from everything, even kids to homeless people."

"They can pull anything together and it just works,” he said.

ricki hall

After the interview was released, Twitter users had quite a few things to say on the subject - and most of them involved Zoolander jokes, as people were quick to point out that Hall's style tips beared an uncanny resemblance to the film's character Mugatu and his Derelicte fashion line, described as:

"A fashion, a way of life inspired by the very homeless, the vagrants, the crack whores that make this wonderful city so unique."

Hall responded to a few of the negative Tweets claiming: "Haha I've been misquoted a few times in the Sunday Times interview. It happens dude."

Since being scouted outside Topman on Oxford Street five years ago, the former mechanic has quickly shot to fashion fame - helped along by his relationship with Kelly Osbourne and that H&M Super Bowl ad alongside David Beckham.

It seems some Twitter users also had an issue with Hall specifying that he sprays himself with Lynx Africa after a shower, with many joking that they hadn't used the Lynx brand since they were teenagers.

The model then took to Twitter to set the record straight again, writing: "Haha I don't know where that come from. I haven't used Lynx Africa since I was 12."

Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?
